Default Question about fuel pressure regulator 2002 4.3

Hey guys my 02 has a hard start issue, fuel pressures are good. I'm a ford technician and haven't dealt with this spider injection setup til now. I pulled the upper intake so I could check the fuel pressure regulator as in pulling the vac line and looking for fuel, but the regulator looks as if it has a nipple for the regulator but no vac line, on the front of the metering system it looks the same with no vac line is there something I'm missing here? I work on fords all day everyday but I'm a Chevy guy to the bone I've never met a car I couldn't fix but this spider deal is new to me
Thanks guys I've been on here for a while now and I love it I'm always happy to help anyone and seems you guys/ gals are too.... Lots of info and great people that are knowledgeable ... Again thank you hope you can inform me about this goofy spider lol

there is no vac line coming off of the FPR. what fuel pressure is it initially (key on engine off) and what does it drop to after 10 minutes.

I get 61 keyed up, after ten min it dropped maybe 5 psi ... I know your thinking the pump is bad but it's a delco that's 6 months old... Once it's running it drives great. I've heard of other pumps check valves causing fuel to leak down. With the pressures I'm getting I can't justify the pump I've been wrenching a long time professionally and I own 2 blazers I just never messed with this type of injection system, I've fixed all the common issues that seem to come with these ... Intake, fuel pump, heater core ect. It's due for cap rotor plugs and wires

There's a lot of possibilities with a long crank condition.... Ect sensor, tps, cap, rotor.... Iac, I hooked my nemesis scan tool up and no codes, I did smell fuel from engine bay but it went away so I wanted to rule the regulator out before I did anything else since its in such a wonderful spot lol

The fuel results you posted seems fine,i doubt anything is wrong with the fuel system, start looking at the tps, clean the maf and look at other issues.

Yea I just wanted to open it up and look just to be safe, I may just replace the reg and put it together and look for other issues since its apart right now just to avoid pulling it later on

your reg sounds fine, what happens when you prime the pump before you try to start it, does it start any easier?
When you did the pump, did you replace the fuel filter?

I had a FPR leaking but not all the time. It took the shop I took it to using a scope to see it. It would leak then stop. There was gas inside the upper intake but the leak being on & off caused the shop to scratch their head until they scoped it. As a rule the FPR don't leak or cause much issue. If you replace it use a Delphi or AC Delco.
