So I have a 98 K1500 5.7ltr (4x4) Silverado, and a 2000 4.3ltr 4dr 4x4 Blazer LT. The transmission went out on my Silverado, and the one in the Blazer is probably not to much longer before I am having to deal with it as well (210,xxx miles on it)

I have been finding a few 4L60E transmissions from reputable salvage yards, and fairly reasonable in price. My plan was to get a salvage yard transmission, and get it rebuilt by a reputable shop (there is a guy with an amazing reputation close to me that has been recommended by a few mechanics I know, all he does is 4L60E transmissions.) I would then swap it out for the one in my Silverado (my most reliable ride until the transmission went). If the Silverado transmission was compatible with the Blazer, I would repeat the process, take the transmission in for rebuild, and swap out in the Blazer.

Will this be possible? I was curious the differences in the two. Will they exchange directly, or will they require conversion/adapting?

 

Junkyards have interchange manuals. Ask one of the salvage yards you have been at.
