Default Recent fuel pump replacement, now losing fuel at fillup and ses light on.

I have a 2000 2 door LS. For 6 months I had a nonworking gas guage and I let it go, tracked mileage and filled up at about 200 miles. The fuel pump finally puked out on me last Friday and I had it replaced with an ac delco pump by my mechanic. At first, everything was great. No problem fueling Sunday. Went to fuel up again on Wednesday and right after the pump turned itself off, fuel began pouring out of the underside of the Blazer, onto the ground. I want to say easily a half gallon, if not more, was lost. Called the mechanic and he said I have a very solid tank and it may be a hole in the filler neck. I'm scheduled to bring it in for tires tomorrow so he said he would look at it. Today, I'm heading to work, stop at a store on the way in, come out, and the engine light pops on. That's the FIRST TIME since I bought the Blazer a year and a half ago that the ses has come on. There's no symptoms, no hesitation, no surging or shuddering and no noise. Any idea whats going on here? Am I safe driving it for an evening until I get it looked at tomorrow?

Sounds to me like he did a crap job reattaching or just forgot to attach either the fill tube or more likely the vent tube and that's where you are losing the fuel from. The code is probably an evap code fir to the large leak at the tank. Once the hose is hooked up correctly the code should be able to be cleared and not come back again.

Thank you! A friend with an 01 Bravada said it sounded like he may have pinched the breather tube or just failed to tighten the clamp at the filler neck. I should be okay driving then? I'm going to drop by autozone on my way home to have the code read just to be 100%

The mechanic put it back on the lift and found that the gasket that the pump comes with was in two pieces sitting at the bottom of the tank. He had to pull the whole thing out, replace the gasket and put it back together. It's running like a champ again and the code were for evap as you said. Thank you for all of your help!
