2000 LT 4x4 auto w 4.3

I know I need to take this to a tranny specialist but wanted an opinion here first. Sometimes, it will go into reverse easily when cold, sometimes not. Once it's been on for a minute or so, everything is fine. If I can fix this cheap, that's great, if I need a rebuild, time for Brazer heaven. Just too many little things are gone or going and the price of 2-3 yr. old Blazers are just soooo cheap.

Suggestions on tranny?

BTW, tranny had a cheapie rebuild 3 yrs. ago. Tech said to unload the vehicle soon. So I guess I've been lucky so far.

I had this problem with my old 97 Ram. I was told it was from a sticking check valve which was allowing the torque converter to partially drain while not in use. When ever the truck sat for more than a day or so, it would take quite a while for the transmission to engage, reverse or forward. I fixed the issue with a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix. I am not an advocate of the miracles in a bottle, but this time, it worked. It may work for you. If nothing else, it is cheap enough.

 

I've used Lucas before as an oil additive and it did help, so it's a pretty cheap way of fixing if it works. THANKS. I'll report back in a week.

I hope it works! As I said, I have never really been one to recommend the quick fixes, but in that one instance, it definitely made a difference. Took some time to work, but it definitely worked. Keep us posted!
