Sluggish acceleration + stumble at idle

It will not cause any damage to the engine. You can expect poor fuel mileage & performance, along with a lighter wallet

If only someone on here had a fancy scanner and would be kind enough to come check out my truck...that would be swell. I really hate only being able to get stuff checked out one day a week...

If you can find a shop locally that is familiar with camshaft retard, and how to adjust it, they'll probably charge less than an hour labor to do it. A whole bunch cheaper than a scan tool capable of accessing it. If you plan on doing your own work, it might be beneficial to get one. You can find decent used ones on eBay for under $2K.

i have a timing gun that we use on our hotrod with a gauge built in near the pulley. will this tool do the job? my truck has to be around 2400+ rpm just to accelerate and it still take a quarter mile to reach 45 mph

Timing lights are obsolete on this engine. Besides, there's no way to adjust it, the PCM has total control of ignition timing. There aren't any degree markings on the timing cover, or the vibration dampener. Don't need 'em, connect a scan tool and read ignition timing, can't even get zapped by the timing light any more

A/c on when you accelerate a/c goes down to nothing
Live in Connecticut and has been hot this past Holiday. Put a/c on but when I hit the accelerator a/c almost goes to nothing. When not hitting the accelerator a/c is strong. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what direction should I start in. Thanks Bernie11
