Default Spare tire carrier

Anybody know what size the torx heads are used on the spare tire carrier?

The spare tire winch thingy broke, I found a few on two door blazers at pick n' pull, but I don't know what size torx they use.

On the parts I got with the tire carrier I got from the wrecking yard, the large bolts for the hinges are T-47 and for the striker plate on the tailgate they are T-30.

christine_208, thank you, that's exactly what I needed to know.

Did you have any difficulty putting it on the 4-door?

So, I know you didn't ask me, but I've put a tire carrier on my four door. I was lazy, and just ran the bolts through the sheet metal. While it works, and hasn't fallen off after six years or so, it is starting to sag. I'm gonna have to take it off and add support somehow.

Guess my advise is to take your time, take out the interior panels so you have room to work, and do it right the first time

You are very welcome. I happened to see you question just before I had to take something to my garage where I knew I had the hardware and Torx drivers where I could check these for you. To answer your question, no, I have not installed mine yet. I've been researching how best to do it and how it might interfere with either my boat trailer or utility trailer that I use quite a bit.

I've been wondering about the effectiveness of different mounting techniques. I would think the best way is to replicate as best as possible, if not improve, the original mounting that had nuts for the bolts secured to a reinforcement plate inside the quarter panel.
