Default Speedometer needle stuck at 100. 01 blazer.

My speedometer needle was stuck at 100 and doesn't show how fast I'm going on the blazer I just got. I put a sub in it and the vibrations made it fall back down 0 but it still doesn't show speed. Easiest way to fix? New cluster? Everything else works perfectly on it and only shows 141k so I'd like to keep it tho. Did someone take it over 100 before to break it like that? Idk how they would though cause the governor.

Pretty sure the speedometer has a stepper motor and it sounds like it's out, but you can order in a new stepper for the gauge and replace it. And by the way the only governor your blazer has is when the engine blows by over revving it

I know it has a rev limiter around 5500k but doesn't it cut power to the engine around 98mph? My 2000 s10 with a 4.3 wouldn't let me go past 100 even though I had about 1500rpms left and 1 gear.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/genera...overnor-11220/. The second gens have governors but you can raise it.

Hmmmmm - interesting - learn something new every day - so maybe I stand corrected - either way I wouldn't take or trust a stock blazer { without a Chit ton of mods } that fast anyways .....

Thanks for telling me what to fix though man. My dad's first gen had the same problem but he's the one that broke his lol. Took the lil 4.3tbi way past 85. This blazer has some mods and figured maybe some one raised the speed limiter. Once I get it fixed it should start counting the miles on the odometer again to right?

Yea i especially wouldn't trust this one over like 80 it's a 2 door 4x4 with kinda soft shocks. Starts swaying. If I lowered it and swaped in a bravada tc and got some good tires maybe I would. But I like offroading.

I don't know on the odometer I didn't research that far into it - And ya it's a blazer they have enough trouble staying in one piece off roading neither lone somebody thinking it's a stock built hot rod
