Default Stupid question about replacing stock radio with aftermarket

I have a 2003 Blazer with the remote entry and the stock CD player. I want to put in an aftermarket unit but I need to know if this will affect the remote entry/factory security.

Based on my searches of the forum I did not find any topics which leads me to believe I don't have to worry. Also some other members seem to have a Viper factory security system - this is not my case, I just have the silly one that honks if you don't unlock the doors with the remote fob.

Do I have to worry about this or can I just put in the new unit?

Thanks for any help, and apologies in advance if I missed some obvious sticky that I didn't find in my searches!

You dont have to worry, Just get the right harness to hook up the aftermarket to your truck and you are good to go.

+1. I replaced mine with a Pioneer receiver, install kit and harness from Crutchfield. No problems.

Thanks guys! Looks like I have a project for tonight!

I have an '03 S10 so I've done the job before but the S10 doesn't have all the fancy locks/windows/security crap so I wanted to make sure before it turned into swearing late at night.

Thanks again!
