Default switching clusters

Well I've been thinking about switching out my gauge cluster for a 6 gauge one with a tach but my big question is that is the milage of my blazer stored in the cluster itself or in the computer? for example if the number was in the computer i could just swap clusters correct? any help is appriciated!

Default RE: switching clusters

All of the references I have only state to remove the old and install the new. I believe you should have the appropriate wiring at the cluster. On the connector, terminal A3 should be a white wire which is your tach signal. Everything else should be the same.
