Default Tach installation on a 96?

I would like to put a tach on my 96 Blazer, 4.3 4dr 4wd. Does anyone know what wire I'm looking for to get the signal?

I used to have a 99 S10 (4cyl) and added a tach to it but that was back in 2000. If I remember right, when I did that one, even though the truck didn't come from the factory with a tach it was wired for one and all I had to do was get the white wire from under the cluster. Does anyone know if this is the case for all of the 2nd gens?

For aftermarket:
Go to your coil. See if + {pink or red?} term has 12v on it with key on. May only be 8v, I dont have the 96 diags. if it does, hook tach power to it. Hook tach signal to other side. Now your tach will work in crank or run. Comes in handy if you have a crank/no start condition.
Go to 12volt{dot}com to find your dash illum wire - under radio install.

You know what's funny about that? Using the Advanced Search and looking for "tachometer" or "tach" under the 2nd gen section, no threads show up with the information you describe. Not even back to 2007. Thanks for all of the help and the time it took for you to type out your response. Not to mention, you didn't even address the questions I asked. Agan, thank you. Not only did your response help me out with what I asked, but I am now able to complete the task at hand! Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Here you go I just found one for you

https://blazerforum.com/forum/genera...-blazer-68606/

If you upgrade your cluster with a tach on it .. its plug and play

just need to remove the old one and put the new one in

your choice if you wanna go with an after market one tho

U.S. We thank you for your service! For some reason I to get nothing most of the time with the search function, must not have the touch. However, Google always work's and it takes me right to what I'm looking for on BF.

"Cluster replacement" in the search box turned up this thread (I put pictures in it of the clustoer from a '95 I swapped into my '97) Any '95 to '97 cluster will work, but it must be from a V6 Blazer or S10 pick-up.
A little cleaner than an add-on tach, but if you prefer that type, someone listed above tapping off the coil. The coil is on the passenger side of the engine, along side of the throttle body.
