Temp not working on Compass/Temp Display

Temp not working on Compass/Temp Display
I own a 1998 LT Blazer (4D and 2WD) and the Temp on the Temp/Compass display shows about 20-30 degrees lower than it really is. Do I have to replace the whole dispay, or can I just get a new thermostat for it? If so, where is the thermostat located on the car?

RE: Temp not working on Compass/Temp Display
I would try replacing the ambient air temp sensor first. It is located behind the grill, in front of the radiator. If you have auto climate control, there will be two ambient air temp sensors in this location. The one on the air baffle to the left (passenger side) is for the climate control (if equiped with auto climate control). The one that is on the hood latch support is for the overhead console.
Hopefully this image will work, if it does, then this is what it looks like:

AC Delco PN is 2133681 and goes for around $17 from RockAuto.com.
Hope this helps!

RE: Temp not working on Compass/Temp Display
OK, mine seems to have a similar problem. It will read (OC) and then occasionally it will read 140 degrees for a couple of seconds and then the proper temp. I noticed that this happens a lot when I go over speed bumps or brake fast. Loose Wire???? If so, where would it be. I think I will try to find this sensor and see if the connection is loose. If that isn't it would a bad sensor cause this too????
