Default Temperature Guage Not Working

The temperature guage on my 1997 S10 Blazer quit working. It pegged to the right (high temperature). I know it is not working since remains pegged when engine is off. I did find a disconnected wire (pack rat ate) on the drivers side of the engine which I suspect is the problem. The wire is attached to the engine and comes off black to a coupling. It leaves the coupling green. Can anyone tell me where the open end of this wire is to be connected?

Thanks.
