Existing wedge type battery tray / battery clamp doesn't hold the battery, it pops out battery slides forward. Almost want to wedge a piece of wood between the battery and the front I think it's the radiator support crossmember?






is there a better hold down clamp for the battery?

 

if you dont mind it looking ghetto just use a ratchet strap, had one on my 93 for years untill i found that little rubber hold down thing you posted. mine is a offroad truck and the strap held it in place

maybe you can cut like a 8 inch piece of wood and try to fit it between the rubber hold down and the battery to get it to stay

 

I was thinking of putting a piece of a 2 x 4 between the front of the battery and the radiator crossmember.

 

There's a channel bent into the front of the battery tray that catches the lip of the battery like the clamp in the rear. Make sure the channel isn't flattened out from dropping the battery on it. When installing the battery set it on the clamp and slide it towards the bumper so it locks into the channel.

 

I'll have to look for that towards the bumper on the battery tray. Never knew it existed quite possible it's rusted away after 20 years.

anyone have a link for a really good price on a new battery tray?
