Default Where to attach engine lift

I have to do some work on my little brothers 98 2wd 4dr Blazer this weekend. One of the jobs is replacing both motor mounts. I have an engine lift that I plan on using to get a little wiggle room in there. I have searched for the last 2 hours and can not find any posts that show or give a decent description of where to hook an engine hoist up to on the 4.3.

I am also changing the drivers lower control arm and ball joint, while reading through the Haynes manual it seems as though you can change the lower ball joint without having to replace the control arm. Is that possible or do you have to replace the LCA in order to replace the lower ball joint. I am asking because the passenger side will need to be done soon and it seems it would be cheaper to replace just the ball joint than the whole control arm.
