'00 4WD rubbing noise
 

I'm currently having a problem with a rubbing noise coming from the right front tire area on my 2000 Chevy Blazer LS4 DR 4WD. This constant noise seems to mimic the speed at which I'm going down the highway. The sound level is the same no matter the speed, but the sound seems to speed up at high acceleration. The only time that the sound quits completely is if I go around a relatively sharp left hand curve. My blazer is completely stock with the exception of a idler and pitman arm change a year ago. My tires are also about a year old although this sound was also present with the old set. I have noticed that my front end is slightly out of alignment, but nothing severe. If anyone has any suggestions on what this could be I would appreciate it greatly so I can narrow it down. Thanks.

have you checked out your bearings?

I had not checked the bearings so I just did it. After rotating the tire, I noticed a slight hissing sound coming from the bearing area. There did not seem to be much movement on tire when I rocked it back and forth with my hands on top and bottom. Not sure if I did the correct test, but it was what I got out of my Chilton's.

You have a bad right front wheel hub (bearings are not serviced seperately). I'm not sure about the price of aftermarket hubs, but they seem to only last for about 1-2 years dependent on mileage. G.M hubs are very expensiveat about $500.00 each IIRC.
