1995 4dr idle issues,hard start

What next, when my gas line blew, I replaced it with 250psi high pressure gas line (correct diameter), and return from fuel filter to pump. Recently replaced a leaking tank with new tank and fuel pump(complete). I have 58-60psi, but now the engine cranks for about 6 seconds w/o starting, then fires up with horrible gas smell in exhaust. Then runs great except when idling at a stop, then it seems to get a little too much gas. Every once and a while (2-3 times in last 2 months) it starts instantly like it used to, but this will only happen two or three starts. It always starts instantly after the first cold start. I thought fuel line leak, filter, coil pack, air, but all replaced to no avail. No error codes, no gas smell in the plenum, no obvious issues, also replaced both breather valves in new tank. No vacuum in tank. Only other symptom is when cold start if you dont give it gas, it will rev up a little, in a cycle until it is warm.
Next part I feel like replacing is the driver.

Check fuel pressure and leakdown. Key ON, engine OFF, fuel pump running: pressure must be 55psi to 61psi. Pressure must remain above 50psi for 10 minutes after the fuel pump shuts off. Post your results.

pressures up to 58-60, holds for about 10sec, then I hear a relay, then drops

love-it,.... may his time in office be short.

What does the pressure drop to? Does it remain above 50psi for 10 minutes after the fuel pump shuts off?

i think it drops, ill have to check it out this weekend.

Thanks for the follow up. That is a very common problem on the CPI engines.
