Default 1995 fuel tank question

My 16 year old son has a 1995 blazer 4 door with a dent in the bootom of the fuel tank. It is big enough that it affects the reading of the gauge when it is low. I have heard that people have put compressed air into the filler neck and it may pop it out. Any ideas if that may cause any damage to the pump or evap system? Or should I bite the bullet and drop the tankand remove thepump module and push it out with a wood dowel?
Thanks for any input

Thanks for any ideas

You may also be able to epoxy on something you can pull on to pop the dent. I would not use compressed air on any container not meant to be pressurized.

Please correct me if I am wrong but isn't there always some sort of pressure in the gas tank. If there is im sure it isn't a lot.

The tank is under vacuum at all times during operation. This is an Emissions feature to keep fuel fumes from exiting the vehicle.

funny you started this thread because my 97 has the same issue. I am positive its because my local backyard mechanic used a jack to drop the tank to replace the pump. It bothers me to see this also evertime i crawl underneath.. ANyways, what I am did is purchased some 2.5 inch suction cups...a set of three.. I should get to it this weekend. if it works I will let u know...might try adhesive.. also..
