1996 Blazer 4.3 Intake manifold?
need help please with intake manifold I need to know torque specs and pattern my book says step 1-27lbs step 2- 106 lbs step 3-11 Im a little confused on that. and 106lbs seems like a lot for little intake bolts. Need this car back on the road as soon as i can. loner car is need by owner thanks.

first off....let me be clear on this important part

Like warthogdriver stated you're torquing to IN / LBS.
This is the torque sequence from the front of the engine - Pass. Side - 7 1 3 5 Driver Side - 8 4 2 6 Torque specs - First Pass: 26 in/lbs Second Pass: 106 in/lbs Third Pass: 132 in/lbs |
Thanks guys that help explain it I did not see the inch instead of FT lbs. now if only the front pump bushing in transmission was that easy.

similar problem but with a 2001 blazer.
i didnt catch that mistake in time when i was retorquing my lower intake bolts and over tightened one on the passenger side and broke it off in the head. i tried easyouts which wouldnt remove the bolt, probably cause of the loctite. i ended up drilling out the bolt and retapping the hole. engine coolant sucks right down the radiator now and puddles below tailpipe along with some white smoke????????? any help please

I finally found the intake unit in a scrap yard. Lucked out and for Just $86 foud the entire intake unit, computer, all doors and bumper moldings, with some interior parts. One man's trash is another man's...

4.3 Camshaft and cam bearing replacemnt.
I'm experienced enough to tackle big jobs on my 1999 Blazer. The only tool I haven't used is the Cam Bearing Removal and Installation Tool. I would very much appreciate any links or videos showing the use of the above mentioned tool. I should have done the cam job before I installed the engine.

If you plan on keeping this vehicle for awhile get the Fel-Pro metal intake gasket kit. It comes with all the gaskets, and RTV sealant.
Federal-Mogul - Fel-Pro Intake Manifold Gaskets The plastic ones do not last. They break around the cooling ports. Your going to have to guess on your torque settings. Unless you have a real high end torque wrench (snap on) it will not be accurate at the low settings. If your intake is pitted around the cooling ports do not do what the Handymanlyness guys does with RTV sealant. Use epoxy instead. Here is a better guide: D-tips |
