1996 blazer abs light on no codes??????
#12
If the light is on and there are indeed no codes, it may be an issue with your ECU.
'96 is a weird year when it comes to ABS as well, if memory serves there are parts that will only work on the '96.
I have the ABS modulator from my '96(couldn't bare to scrap it after I pulled it) you can have for the price of shipping if that turns out to be your problem

There are a few early Auto-Trac Blazers out there. There used to be one at the local wreckers with a Borg Warner transfer case, that as nearly as i could tell was full time 4wd. NP3 is the RPO code in the glove box.

Yup, NP3 RPO, just found it! AWD was an option in 1996. Single speed NV149 transfer case, very rare, but they are out there. It is not an "active" AWD system, it is an automatic "on demand" system. Oh well, that still doesn't answer the ABS issue. I'll do some research on that AWD system with ABS.
EDIT: Not sure if this link will work, but here's a flow chart: http://content.chiltonsonline.com/co...s/88459g20.pdf

The abs codes are automatically cleared every time the vehicle is turned off. Drive until the abs light comes on and scan the codes before turning the truck off. If you shut the truck off, plug in the scanner, then turn the key to run there won't be any codes present.

Like you said when I switch the vehicle off the code clear, so I drove it until the light come on (very quickly, after few yards) and tried to read the codes with 2 different scanners, both connected with the vehicle but stated no dtc is stored, any idea what my next step should be ?? Thanks

There are a couple different kelsey hayes abs modules depending on what year your blazer is. Determine which one you have and search you tube repair videos for that model number. It's common for those modules to have cold (bad) solder connections.

okay thanks for the info, I’ll check that out, would it be better to get a second hand module and replace the one I have rather than repair it ? What do you think ? Also a friend noticed my brake lights weren’t working so could this be connected to my problem ? By the way I really appreciate your help here, thanks
