1997 Blazer Starting Problems
 

What would make a 97 Blazer have intermittent starting problems? Sometimes when you turn the ignition switch, it won't do anything. After trying three or four times, it will go ahead and start. Other times, it won't start for an extended period of time. The radio, windows, etc. have power, but the starter won't engage. It has a newer battery. The ignition switch, neutral position sensor, and starter are all new. The connections at the starter are fine.

Same problem here..new starter, ignition switch,and battery. although..if I jump the connection between the "S" terminal on the solenoid to the batt cable on the starter and spin the starter for a few seconds, I can get in the truck and it will crank over and start just fine. but, when I turn the truck off it will not start again and I have to repeat the procedure over again. I am very confused as to what the problem is, do I have a bad starter? Is the new switch bad? if so was will it start after I jump start the solenoid. Has anyone else on this forum had this problem before? Thanks in advance for any help.

oh yeah..Its a '95 blazer 4.3 v6 4wd Automatic.

If you have a fuel pressure gauge throw it on and check to see if it holds pressure after you turn the truck off. I think the pressure is suppost to drop a little over time, but my 96 has a hard start and when I turn off the truck the pressure drops to 0 right away. If I turn it to the on position for a couple seconds and then turn to start, it starts a lot easier.

So if thats your problem you have a fuel leak which could be coming from a number of places. I'm still trying to track mine down.
