1997 Chevy Blazer 4.3 Vortec Wont Start in temp below freezing (32)
So far ive changed 3 injectors, ignition module, camshaft sensor, all 6 spark plugs, wires, and rotor button; But I still seem to be having this problem. If anyone who has more experience with these vortec engines and has an idea as to what could be causing this please let me know.
Thanks

Electronic Failure in freezing weather
if you think the injectors are freezing add 1 bottle of rubbing alcohol to 8-10 gallons of gas and that should cure it.
My problem is with something electronic..... int he cold the coil will not fire the first time you crank it, but will the second or third, and most of the time it takes starting fluid to make it start in freezing weather. Id really like to know how to fix this problem because I hate to use ether on a gas engine.
Thanks

If you are not getting spark then you will need to start diagnostics specific to the ignition system.
The ignition control module tends to be especially sensitive to heat and cold when they start to fail. I would start there.
Most auto parts stores will test the ICM for you free of charge. Since it is cold that sets off the problem on your truck make sure that the module is tested cold as well as warm.
This is most easily accomplished for a bench test by spraying a cheap can of air duster held upside down.

i own a 2000 blazer 4x4,4dr.,its a love hate relationship,im trying so hard to get this suv to be machanicaly right, the moter runs like a brand new truck, when its running.i bought it from a dealership in n.h.ive had nothing but trouble since buying it, ive done ball joints 3 times, radiator, water pump, transmission rebuild, complete tune up,brakes twice, rotors all 4,fuel pump, fuel filter, intake manifold gasket, battery, tires, drivers side window master switch, radiator flush twice, oil changes every 2500-3000 miles, and now its really hard to start after sitting overnight,it takes 5-6 tries, but once its started,it starts fine. ive taken it to the local garage(machanic) he tells me he tested the temp sensor=ok,he tested fuel pressure after he started it,and that was ok, can someone help me please, has anyone outthere had the same problem?????? sorry such a long post, but ive saked for help 2 times and i didnt even one reply??????:icon_doh :

Trouble starting
I've had similar problems with starting engine. I could pour gas into the throtle body and it would start and run fine but would not start on it's own. At first it would require me to cycle the keyswitch several times and would then start. The problem was the fuel pump did not have enough pressure to start but enough to run. In the manuals it states the pressure should be in the middle 50's. I found from another source that the starting pressure needs to be above 62 lbs to start. I replaced the pump and it was fine. I have to replace the pump every 50k or so.
My problem now is the engine idles roughly and the codes show the middle cylinders are miss firing. Anything above idle and the engine is fine. Mileage is still good and at 220k still going strong.
