2000 4l60e interchangablity
ok in my reads here, i love this forum btw, i have noticed that despite what the junk yard guys have told me that there are many differences in the 4l60e's between 95 and 2000. im looking to find a salvage tranny for my rig and want to make sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that i will not get stuck with a 1 or 2 year off trans that will not fit my truck, and while i know my best bet is just to get mine rebuilt i don't have that kind of loot 1800-3k from what i understand.
my tranny issue is the p1870 code plus very high mileage, hard 1-2 shift. i would fix the valvebody but with the high mileage a rebuild or swap is in order and i can get a salvage unit for 300-600 easy. the code is causing me to fail the emmissions part of the state inspection. i appreciate any good info you can provide. |
yes. one difference is the 95 does not have a PWM solenoid and a couple other flaw fixes/changes. and that darn 1-2 shift slam always seems to be the check balls eating there way through the separator plate.I carry my old plate around with me just to show my friends how crappy it was. Transgo fixed that for good. Oh and that weak torq conv lockup piston wearing out the valve body port is lame too.

yea i think im gonna try the valve body repair for now really just what ever i can do to get this light off i will still be doing a swap at tax time (thank God for that refund) so thanks for all info yall can give me on the interchange keep it coming.
now i read some posts last night about some fixes and today i bought fitz-all part a747410q which is a tcc valve replacement requiring no reaming or sleeve, i got the gaskets for the valve body also, filter and pan gasket , Hertz20 tyvm for the input i will be on the look out for were indications on the plate, were your check balls worn down too? or was the plate all you replaced and did use the transgo or other tcc valve replacement or is yours still stock and did you have the p1870 code or was your repair for the hard shift, i know the two are usually associated. |
I had the p1870 code from the wore lock up piston on the valve body. the slam was the seperator plate. The checkballs are steel bearings so they didnt show signs of wear.
also go to youtube and search (4l60E) you will learn tons of info about your trans.the videos from kevingalindo1 are my favs. |

well i droped the VB and started this project yes i had a check ball lodged in to the sep plate, got the new one 25 bucks, every electric connector i touched broke it must have been hot in there new harness 65 bucks, not done just yet taking a break ill be back later |
awesome this fit-z all valve in combination with the trans-go separator plate and my new harness (that wasn't a problem till i touched it) apears to have fixed my current issues and removed the p1870 code and not to hard a job just keep it clean.
but regardless my high mileage trans is just bandaged and i know a full rebuild will be very time consuming in my hands and very expensive at a shop my plan remains to at least buy a salvage trans with low mileage when i get my taxes back even if it just goes under a tarp till i'm ready for it So the question remains what vehicles/engine sizes, and years will have a 4l60e that is going to be a proper interchange for my 2000 4.3 4wd blazers tranny |
