Default 2000 Blazer Blinking 4x4 switch???? does not engage????

Hi guys, I have a 2000 Blazer LT and the 4x4 will not engage. When pushed, i can hear it click, but the indicator light just blinks and its not in 4x4... 4x4 low engages however its not in 4x4.

What is the problem? How do i fix it?

The first thing you should do is check for codes.
Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
Connect PIN 13 on the data link cable (DLC) to a ground. Use a jumper wire. The DLC is located in the cab under the instrument panel on the driver's side.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Observe the transfer case shift control switch select buttons for flashing codes.
They should all flash at the same time. There will be a sequence of one, two, three or four flashes.
Possible codes are 1,2,3,4
Re-post with your results

what does that mean??? "Connect PIN 13 on the data link cable (DLC) to a ground. Use a jumper wire. The DLC is located in the cab under the instrument panel on the driver's side. "

What are the possible problems, i've been reading about some sort of vaccum line?

How do i fix that ? or other common problems?

I don't know of a more simple way to explain this. If you are unsure of how to use a jumper wire to ground pin 13 on the data link connector, I suggest you leave this diagnosis to a mechanic.
I don't say this to be insulting, I just think you may have the problem diagnosed and repaired faster and possibly cheaper by a qualified mechanic.

Chevy,

I agree with you if wick001 has no clue then he should take it to a shop and have it fixed. But I will say that if 4Low is engaging and working that the vacuum is not his problem and should find a shop with a Tech2 scan tool or an enhanced version ODBII scantool that will read codes for the drivetrain/transfer case, to get a better idea of what to fix...

Guys--he said the 4lo is engaging but is not working so it could be a vacuum problem.

I just need to know what the most common problems are with the 4x4 on a 2000 model.

I know i'm engaging the 4x4 correctly, And yes it does go into low gear, but no 4x4. So i'm assuming its either the vacuum.

If its the Vacuum lines, how do i test and repair it?

And what are the other common problems? How do i repair that?
