2000 blazer both brake warning lights, brakes ok.

Bought a 2000 4X4 with 70,000 last February. Since then both brake warnig lights will come on with no change in braking. Turning off the engine for about 5 minutes will turn off both lights until whatever is going on turns them back on. Tried the anti-lock on packed snow and worked fine. As time has passed this is happenig more often. Any Ideas? Plan to buy a scanner/reader with ABS capability. Any feedback good or bad on scanner brands and models would be appreciated.

ABS goes through a self test each time the ignition is turned on, and completes the test after the vehicle reaches ~10MPH. Might want to take a look at this. All you need is a DVOM to check it.

Brake warning lights.

Thanks for the information. This does appear to be a likely cause. Next question is, where do I find the wheel speed sensor harness connectors? These lights have often come on at low speeds but, have also occured at highway speeds. I do have a good meter to check signal, also have an oscilloscope. Thanks again, G43

On a 4X4, the front sensors are part of the wheel hub assemblies so you'll need to follow the wire harness from the hub inward toward the frame, and forward. Usually they clip to the top of the frame. You'll need to jack up the front end to test the sensors, but you shouldn't have to remove the wheels unless you need to clean the sensor mount.
