Default 2001 Blazer 4wd Actuator "noise"

Hello, I took the truck to the shop so they could hear this noise that happens ever once in a while. They heard it and said it was the 4wd actuator acting up and making the noise. The noise as listed in another thread only happens when I start truck and just start to move. IT does not happen after that. Can a vacuum actuator make a noise. The 4wd does work in all gears. The noise sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side.

ok, I started the truck and pulled out of the driveway at 2 mph's and I hear a sound like moan that seems to be coming from the front left. The only way to duplicate the sound is to shut the truck off, and start it again and go 2mphs'. after you reach 2mphs the noise is gone. It does not happen all the time but seems to be happening when I use 4wd the last 2 weeks. As of this morning, my mech. heard the sound and said it sounds like an actuator vacuum issue. It took us 3-4 times of starting the truck and shutting it off to get the noise to rear its head.

The noise does not comeback after we heard it while driving. It is a one time event once we reach 2 mph's. In other words we heard the noise at 2mphs drove 10 miles and it does not come back. We stop truck, shut it oof start again and the noise was there again. I did not leave it for repair because I want a second opinion. As of now, I cannot duplicate the noise.

Sounds like it could be an issue with the front axle engagement system somewhere. This topic is discussed quite a bit in other threads on the forum so the search feature will give you some things to read through.

Thank you. Is that a safety while driving at all? In other words will the truck drive off the road due to that issue?
