Default 2002 2dr. blazer problems starting

Hello all I'm new to the forum. So here is my problem. For about the last 3 months my blazer would not start on the first crank, but would always fire up the second crank. I ignored the issue because it runs perfect when started. So a couple of days ago the problem got worse. It takes about 7-8 cranks just to get the vehicle started. It's to the point that I'm running the battery dead before it starts. This morning I charged up the battery and cracked it over and over until I finally got it started. I took it for a drive around town and it run flawlessly, no stalling, no loss of power, nothing. My best guess is the fuel pump is not putting out enough PSI, but before I go spend $400-$500 to get the pump replaced I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and possible causes. Thanks for the help in advance.
