Default 2002 Blazer Back Up Light oddity

I have a 2002 Blazer, auto trans, 4.3l V6. THe passenger back up light works just fine but the driver side refuses to work. The fuses both check out just fine and the bulbs are brand new. I have about 0 electrical knowledge so if someone could help i would really appreciate it.

If you have a VOM or a test light/ old school/ you could go to the Driver's side back- up light and remove the bulb. Then carefully and using an insulated probe, touch the Positive terminal inside the bulb housing with the other probe grounded. Then have someone carefully put the trans in reverse. Of course, be sure both the foot brakes and the E brakes are on and all safety procedures are taken.
If you don't get 12 VDC on the VOM or the test light doesn't illuminate, you have a bad wiring or connector or bad socket to that bulb. If it does light up, you need to check the new bulb.
You can get a digital VOM -volt ohm meter-at Harbor Frieght Tools for less than 10.00.

There should only be one fuse for the reverse or back-up lights. Likely problem is the bulb socket in that the bulb is not making good electrical contact. Might need to raise the contact in the socket after cleaning it.

If the 'back-up fuse' was blown, both driver's side and passenger's side b/u lights would not work. Therefore it should be in the wiring harness, ground, socket or bulb on the driver's side.
