2002 Blazer Front Axle Actuator Location

Can someone please tell me where the "Front Axle Actuator" is located on a 2002 Blazer? Any photos available?

It's under your battery tray. You have to remove the battery and tray to get to it.

Front Axle Actuator

Thats the Vacuum Actuator, I am looking for the Front Axle Actuator, it has an electrical plug in and two vacuum hose ports.

I believe you are referring to the Front Axle Actuator Solenoid Valve. Which I understand to be located on the firewall about in the center for an NV236 TC (four button). The Front Axle Actuator is located under the battery tray.

Did a quick search. This page has a pics of it's location about half way down the page. Front Drive Axle Vacuum Actuator Solenoid Valve?

Heres my problem

I have a 2002 S10 Blazer. It shift into 4wd fine but when I go to put it back into 2 wheel there is a delay, sometime several miles and the a loud bang like someone hit the bottom of the vehicle with a hammer. I have changed out the vacuum front axle actuator (under the battery) and I am in the process of changing the Front Axle Actuator Solenoid Valve. Am I replacing the right items and is there anything else that I need to look at?

Typically a difference in propeller shaft RPM is what causes the "bang" on disengagement. If one tire is worn more than the others, that could cause it. The circumference of all 4 tires/wheels must be identical. All 4 tires and wheels must be the same size, same manufacturer is better yet. All 4 must be inflated equally.

Another thing you might want to check. I had a similar loud bang. The five 15mm bolts holding the tube and the plastic cable actuator to the front diff had backed out slightly.
If anyone has ever been in there good chance of improper torque.

Had a hell of a time finding it.

I just noticed looking at a couple other threads you have on this subject that you have a 3-Button selector. I believe this means that the solenoid valve you've been looking to replace is the wrong one. The solenoid valve with the two vacuum ports and electrical plug is for a transfer case with 4-button selector. The transfer case vacuum switch you are trying to change is mounted on the transfer case itself (where you see the three vacuum hoses going to on the TC). There is no electrical connector. See the pic.

EDIT: Just to note, I am not suggesting this is the reason for your "clunk".

Thank you rock2p

I appreciate your reply. I went into my local auto parts store and thats what he sold me. I've looked all over the engine bay and couldn't come up with it. Thanks again for your help.
