The battery has an insulation blanket around it, but the terminals are exposed. Unscrew both, black first and check for corrosion and then check the battery voltage. Sounds like it is just a battery gone bad.

You should be able to put the transmission into Park unless the shift cable has broken. This is why the key is stuck....gear selector must be Park or Neutral to be able to turn key to Lock and remove.

If the selector cable is broken, it is fixable, but not cheap due to the time involved to replace it.

What you do is get under the vehicle at the driver's door. There is a cable with a flexible boot on it at the transmission. Push the lever towards the front of the vehicle. This will put the transmission into Park and allow you to remove the key. The engine must NOT be running when you do this. If you have to do this, let me know and then aftewards I can tell you what has to be fixed.

Good luck.
