Default 4hi/4lo

I was wondering if anyone could answer why I can shift into 4lo but not 4hi? My 97 blazer with 210,000 miles was diagnosed with a defective encoder motor. I got a transfer case with the encoder motor and replaced (not myself) this weekend. ....will go into 4lo but not 4hi. Before the diagnosis, none of the lights in the switch illuminated even initially when starting. Now the 2hi will and the 4lo will also.
Any ideas?

My 1999 had trouble with the push button 4WD shifting and it was TCCM (Transfer case control module). For expense reasons I'll hope that isn't the case for you.

ok my battery died completely last night and its 20 below out .... so i had to jump my blazer to get it to start... not a problem there...

what confuses the hell out of me is the 4wd worked perfectly for most of the day. took the wife to the doctor in detroit lakes minnesota. about 50 miles one way away...it worked all the way up and all the way back...when we got to the last stop back in fergus falls (our home town ) then it decided to go back ot its usual of not working...so i got home and disconnected the battery and reset the computer and now everything is working again???

any ideas?

we are leaning towards the shift motor control module....but are not sure....

so far i cant find that part for under 250 bucks yet....
