4L60E Question?
I have a 95 BLazer with the 4.3L Vortec/4L60E Tranny 4x4 Automatic
My tranny is done and I have been calling around looking for one and came across this guy who told me that I can only use another 95 4l60e, he said the 95 4L60E was specific to that year only because of a black box and/or a crank trigger. I am not familiar with this tranny and was wondering if that was true or not. If not, what make/model years can I expect to find a 4L60E for my Blazer.....thx

RE: 4L60E Question?
On ebay they are selling the same tranny you are looking for proffessionally rebuilt with a warranty on it. I forgot the price like 600 bucks and 100 for shipping.

RE: 4L60E Question?
There was a change in '96. That change being that the 93-95 transmissions had a 1 peice case, where the 96-current had a 2 peice case consisting of the main case and a bolt on bell housing. Also, according to tciauto.com, the length of the case from bellhousing to transmission mount changed from 22-1/2" to 23-3/16". It looks like the transfer cases changed to incorporate the transmission mount on the transfer case in the 97+ drivetrain. Again, I am only trying to interpret the data from TCIs website.

RE: 4L60E Question?
Interesting...I have a 95' but the 4L60E has a dust cover on it...guess it isnt the original. Is there any way of telling the year of the tranny?

RE: 4L60E Question?
No not interesting. The 93-95 have a single piece case and a dust cover while the 96-current have a 2 piece case consisting of the main case and a FULL bell housing.

RE: 4L60E Question?
I think the '95 is unique, in that it is the new electronic shift, while utilizing the old tranny case. While the '96 up have the new tranny case and electronic shift. Call a salvage yard and ask them if they have anything to replace it, also ask them what years, makes, modles are compatible with yours. Post up, I would be interested in knowing myself.
