4x4 Engages only sometimes.

4x4 Engages only sometimes.
I got a 2000 chevy blazer, the thing is it only engages in 4x4 sometimes and when it does i have to go in reverse to do it. Other times it wont engage at all. I was told maybe actuator but i want to check on here. Thanks
