4x4 problem

when i switch my truck into 4x4 it makes a grinding noise and the light starts flashing but it is still working 4x4 low does not do these just 4 high any ideas

Vehicle info? Transfer case details (3-button = NV233, 4-button = NV236)? Have you run through THIS THREAD yet?

Where does the grinding noise sound like it is coming from? In front of you? or below you?
