95 4.3 unknown vacuum hose
1995 s10 blazer 4.3 vortec 4x4. while changing cap, rotor, etc., I noticed an open vacuum line pointing up towards the distributor. Followed it down & see it connects with several above transmission. Can anybody tell me what this is, & where this hooks to? I can't see any bung for it to go on. thanks

Is your 4x4 working? That sounds alot like were vac actuater line runs on mine and its the same spot that mine broke.

I thought it was.
The thing stopped running & had to be towed home the other day. It started later, so I thought maybe cap was wet. It was loose, wires not great, one plug electrode was burned off. compression test was ok, except for #5 cyl @90lbs. Head gasket maybe, because I have lost some fluid. Intake gasket recently changed because of that, but it didn't help.
Can you tell me where that line goes to on the engine side? I can't see where it came from.

If its what Im thinking it comes up, strange, from under the battery tray. That's were the 4x4 vacum actuature is. Then it goes back to the firewall then kind of around the back of distrubutor then like down.

that is most likely your transmission vent hose. if its pointing towards the hood then thats probably what it is. at least i think that comes up around the distributor area. a picture would help also

Vent hose was my next question. Looks like that must be it. Got it started w/ new tune up, & there is no vacuum on that hose, 4x4 is working. So, I guess I was worried about nothing. I'm too big to fit behind the engine, so I couldn't see where it was supposed to connect. It does have a rubber end on the hose that made me think it was supposed to go somewhere. The other end does go to the bunch of hoses above the transfer case. Thanks for the input. These forums are great & full of knowledge.
