96 blazer missing that electric hum and will not start
Truck ran fine Friday but Sunday morning it will not start.
The engine is turning over, battery checks out alright. -There is a missing electrical hum when I put the key in and turn it, however. I'm not certain if this is the fuel pump. -The fuel gage goes to full, however I'm pretty certain it was at a quarter tank when I drove it last. -The battery charge indicator does not move, either. I am pretty certain it jumped when I turned the key before this problem occured. 95/96 Chevy Blazer. Funds are tight so I cannot Easter Egg. Anyone have an idea, please? Steve |

You should do a fuel pressure test. A quick search will give you the numbers you need to see and how to do the test.

RE: 96 blazer missing that electric hum and will not start
If you don’t hear the ‘hmmm’ before start up, that means the fuel pump isn’t working. Check the fuse first; if that’s ok I’d suspect the pump is dead. It’s a PITA to replace since the pump is in the tank. Fuel injected cars need constant psi to run, so manufactures had to go electric. The electric pumps do a better job at pushing fuel than pulling. So they mount them in tank. Also it helps cool the pump. Try replacing one in the dead of winter with a full tank of gas (27 gal) in a K1500, and nowhere or means of putting the fuel anywhere.:D
