97 blazer 4dr - liftgate not locking.
 

I just bought a 97 blazer and it did work when i bought it. Tonight i started building my custom tool box in the back and now the liftgate won't lock. I didn't mess with any wires or anything just bolted 2X4's to the tie down hooks in the back. The window release button on the dash DOES pop the glass; as the button on the gate won't. The rear wiper won't work also but does spray fluid. I hatch does close just fine but WON'T lock. PLS help tired of moving my tools in and out every night.

So does the button on the tailgate pop the glass or not? Do you have a glass up, tailgate down or everything up?

Everything goes up. Button on the back door doesn't pop the glass. Only way to pop the glass is the button on the dash.

I checked all the fuses last night. Still doesn't lock I took apart the gate and took the whole lock/latch out and cleaned it. Still don't work so for now i disengaged the handle and now have to open the glass and push down on the rod that was attached to the outside handle. I drilled a small hole on the inside trim panel for the rod to slip through. Had to do something to lock my tools up at night; but didn't want to leave the trim piece out. From what it looked like the previous owner had replaced the rear wiper motor which still doesn't work.
