97 blazer 4x4 wheel hub design 1 & 2 interchangable?
 

Hi I know there has been post about this before but would like to get a confirmed answer.
I have a 97 blazer 2dr 4x4 not awd.
Abs speed sensor has rotten thru and is causing the abs light to be on and sometimes the abs goes off when breaking at low speeds.
I have the 1st design with the speed sensor on the dust shield.
My dust shield has also rusted in parts.
My question is can I use the 2nd design Integral Sensor?

hello?help?anyone? can i just buy a set of hubs with the integrated sensor? It still has the same connector? i imagine it reads the same thing.

I know that someone has done a comparison here. I believe they found that you could swap the later design hub/bearing assembly into the steering knuckle, but the CV shaft was different due to the reluctor (tone) ring being part of the driveshaft on the early design. I'm sure there is a thread around here somewhere with pictures, but I don't have the time right now to locate it for you.

I would just swap in a new dust-shield/sensor assembly and call it a day. They aren't terribly expensive.

I looked at doing this a couple months ago. The thread is here. The hubs are slightly different, and the newer style hub won't sit flush against the mounting plate of the older style spindle.

If you want to use the newer hubs I'd suggest getting the complete spindle setup with the newer dual piston caliper and rotor from an auto wrecker. The rotors are different too, so if you want to do this, you'll need everything from the donor truck. If you do this, you'll still be able to use your older CV shafts and ball joints connected to the newer style spindle. The ABS wire from the newer style hub will just plug into the existing system.

ahh thanks that's what I needed to know. I still have the original wheel bearings with 170k on them. Im going to get a pair of these Chevy GMC Pickup Truck Olds 4x4 4WD Front Wheel Hub & Bearing Pair Set | eBay. cuz im tight on money along with the abs sensor and shield.
