97 Blazer shuts off while driving!

My Blazer seems to be running fine, then all of a sudden the air bag light comes on, and the car just shuts off! If you throw it into neutral and restart it, it starts right back up, but this is very dangerous, especially in heavy traffic!
My husband is a great mechanic, and he has checked everything he can think of, and has even put it on the scanner - no codes come up! He's frustrated & I'm worried! Someone on another sight mentioned the ignition switch - what do you all think?

Sure sounds like a symptom of the ignition switch. Before it shuts off, do you notice anything going weird with the rest of the gauges?

Thanks for responding so quickly! Sometimes the ABS light goes on, and once when my husband was driving, when it shut of, he felt the brakes "bump"! I'm no car person, so I'm telling you all this the best way I can! Please bear with me!
