98 blazer mifire,flashing cel lite

I had to have the intake gasket replaced due to coolant leak. After mech. replaced gasket it had random misfire and cel flashing at 30 mph so he replaced sparkplugs, wires, rotor, and dist. cap.
It still had mifire and cel flashing so now he wants to replace the injector assembly. He said it has electrical problem.I said How do you know this is bad and will fix it? He gives me a long well.It could be other things.
I said I cant go on a well maybe.Im on disability and only have so much I can spend each
month.
I live 10 miles outside Elizabethton tn.Ive been walking 20+ miles round trip to cash my check, pay the bills, and get groceries for my family the last 3 months.
If anyone on this forum knows of a good mech. in the area, point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Ron

I highly doubt there is a problem with the spider. I'm betting it has more to do with the distributor than anything else.

Did they time it correctly? There is a specific process that should be followed if reference points are not created to properly time the engine back to where it was before the distributor was removed.

Was the cam retard set properly when they dropped the distributor back down in? The distributor fits somewhat loosely in the hole through the lower intake manifold. This looseness is actually an adjustment to precisely set the cam retard which must be monitored through a scan tool with the engine running.

Was the drive gear on the bottom of the distributor inspected prior to putting the distributor back in? The drive gears tend to get chewed up in some engines over time.

I dont know what mech. did. When he said he wanted to replace the spider but it might not be the problem I limped the truck home.Everytime I would ask about the timing or the ignition module he would get all offended. He said the misfire kept jumping from #5 and #6 I asked about flushing the injectors, he said it was electrical not mechanical.
Anything over 25 to 30 mph sets the lite to flashing.I guess my only option is to limp it into town to a cert. mech.
