98 jimmy wont start when cold

i have a 98 4.3 vortec jimmy that wont start when it is cold outside unless you give it a lil shot of starting fluid once it has been ran or is warm out side it will start right up i have changed the fuel filter and the pressure regulator i also put a fuel pressure gauge on it turned the key on and it will jump up to about 58psi then slowly drop stopping at about 20psi just wondering if this sounds like my pump or a bad spider thanks for any help you can give me.

You would have to isolate the problem, as both the fuel pump and spider are rather expensive parts. If you check fuel pressure at the fuel filter (with some afro engineering with the threaded connectors) you will be able to tell. If you hold steady pressure (75-100PSI, I believe, but Captain Hook knows the exacts) at the fuel filter, but not at the service port on the back of the engine by the distributor, it would seem the spider is bad. If you are losing pressure at both, it would seem as though the check valve inside the fuel pump is bad, or even the pump itself.
