The other day I started out to work and about 4 miles into the drive the engine quit. It will crank but not start. I did not notice any idiot lights on at the time, not to say there wasn't. Got a tow and here I am. It is a 99 blazer 4x4 with 135,000 miles. I will not get to really look at it for another week so any input on where to start the diagnosis would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

check fuel pressure. Check for spark. Gas in it? These gauges mess up sometimes and you didn't say how long you owned it. Jerry

That is the same thing that happened to me on our 97 Blazer. It was a fuel pump. Sometimes if you leave it sit over night it will start & run but not for long as a rule.

Thanks everyone! I was given this vehicle from my father-in-law and am not familiar with chevy's. I greatly appreciate all the input. I will check the fuel pump first off. Hopefully that will be it.

Promise me you wont just start guessing what is wrong and run to the part store! I hate seeing people buy a part because they think its the problem. Opps! thats not it! lets go buy another part! Troubleshoot the problem before you buy parts. Blazers are very well know for fuel pump issues, but please check yours before you buy a new one! Good Luck!

Go to the auto parts store and rent a fuel pressure gauge first before you do anything. Just because you hear the pump running doesen't mean its working. Mine went out and I could hear it working but my fuel pressure was only about 8-12 psi at the "fuel rail". It should be 55+ at idle after start up and I'm sure you can find in this forum the pressure it should be at start. Don't quote me but I believe it should be around 80 psi plus. I would start there for sure.
