Did you disable the fuel pump before attempting to use starter fluid? If not, you haven't really determined whether it is too much fuel or improperly timed spark as the procedure I detailed would have.

Has the intake duct (what runs between the throttle body & the air filter box) been attached while you have been attempting to start the truck?

If the answer to both questions above is 'yes', then you are dealing with an ignition system problem. The Tech Article (DIY) section (index linked to in my signature below) has a few threads concerning no-start problems. I believe that one of them has a link to a site explaining how to test the ICM (ignition control module) as well as the coil itself. You can also run through the EDI Engine Timing thread (also in the index thread) to make sure that the distributor is timed properly.

As I stated above, you can check the spark timing using an inductive timing light. There will not be measurement markings, but with an adjustable timing light, you should be able to see the top most mark on the balancer at around a 10-20 degree advance, possibly higher. Given that timing is computer controlled, a scan tool would be faster.

Please read my posts carefully & attempt the steps presented exactly as detailed. When you respond, please try to answer all of the questions I have posed.
