Air Temperature Actuator

I have remove the electric air temp. actuator from under the dash. And I was ready to install the new one, but decided to test it before re-installing it. I'm assuming the this actuator should move both directions when turning on the AC and Heater?
Does this some right?

One of the first things that will happen when you put the actuator in is it will test its limits to program itself. If you plug it in outside the truck, it will not have a door to set its limits on and it may result in a broken temp door or damage to your new actuator.

I have a buddy trying to replace this actuator now.. he is having problems getting access to the part. How do you get to it other than removing the whole dash board??

Small hands and one of those ratcheting screw driver bit sets.
