Is this below normal operating temperature - pic inside

it never goes past that point. it is a Canadian truck so the gauge is in Celcius.

i am wondering if that is lower than normal temp. It seems to be around 70C. I owned two other suv's before ( chrysler inline 4.0L and chrysler 4.7L) both of which sat at just around 95-100C when fully warmed.

my heat is also weak.

if this temperature is in fact a problem, what should I be looking to replace?

It should run hotter than that. First I would check and make sure the gauge is reading corrrectly. If it's not blowing out hot air with the heat on it could well be reading properly. When I bought mine I found out it didn't have a thermostat in it when it got cold out and I had no heat lol.

should be hotter than that for sure. im willing to bet its the thermostat. it is probably a fail safe made to stay open if it does fail and its not letting the truck warm up enough. pretty easy job to do. wont cost much either.

hmmm yah i hope it's just the thermostat. im gonna replace it and update you guys.

is it safe to replace while the engine is hot? or should I let it cool?

You should let it cool, and you'll have to drain a little bit of the radiator to keep it from gushing out at ya.

Does the truck go into lock up when it's in OD? When mine didn't have a thermostat and it got cold it wouldn't let the transmission lock up the converter because it never got up to temp.

Yes, the torque converter will not lock up until normal operating temperture.

Hi there. In my blazer it also stays at same way. I used scanner and it said coolant temperature 92C. That is what computer uses. I dont know is there one probe for meter and one for computer.

mine stayed in the exact same spot untill i changed my t-stat, now full operating temp i get half way between 1/4 and 1/2, heat got better obviously

mine usually sits between that mark and the 100. usually 1 or 2 notches above the second tick. think ive only hit the 100 or more ever once.
