belt tension
So I've searched and searched and never really found a good answer for this so here goes. I've got a 97 Bravada and I've got the serpentine belt squeaking pretty good..super annoying. I pulled on the belt and it had a good bit of deflection....my question is how much should it have? the belt looks almost new but it's not a Gatorback....Do you think I should just buy a Gatorback first and see if that solves it? Thanks for any help!

Install a new belt AND tesioner... that should solve the annoying "morning squeal".
Also - don't buy a cheapy belt. |
You should have about a 1/2" worth of deflection at the center of the longest span with moderate pressure.
Sure sounds like your tensioner has started to give up. |

I forgot to mention..that after the vehicle has been running for a while it will go away......the belt also doesn't appear to have any glazing on it.....
