I need to change the heater blend door motor on my 99 blazer and am having some issues with my "Haynes" repair manual. The pictures that they show look nothing like the dash I have in my 99 and the instructions are very vague. I have a feeling that Haynes does alot of "cut and Paste" when they put their manuals together. My question is - is Chilton any better? How specific are they to the actual year and model of your vehicle? Haynes seems to have about a 5 year spread and alot of the info and pictures could be for your vehicle or it could be for one 2-3 years older or newer.

Haynes and Chilton are the same - both published by the same company. The Chevrolet factory service manual is the best (and far and away the most expensive).

Another vote for FSMs! There's a set for 1999 s-series trucks for sale right now in the For Sale/Trade section. Two more posts (while abiding by the rules of the forum) and you'll be able to respond in that section. You could PM the seller as well. I have provisionally put my name in the hat just in case AJBert needs to unload them quick, but I left it open for anyone that actually needs them. He's asking $60+s&h for them which is a steal!

By far, the factory service manuals are the best. They show up on here now and then, though plan on spending a bit more than Haynes or Chiltons.
