Blazer keyless entry remote and programming

forgive me if this has been hashed out before. I am new to the forum and I have searched to possibly find the answer but I did not find the exact answer.

I just picked up a '98 Blazer LT for my daughter for a very reasonable price. one of the issues is that it did not come with the keyless remotes. I was able to find two remotes in a junkyard out of a '99 Jimmy and a '00 Blazer. how will I know if these are ok to use on the '98 and how do I program it to work. thanks

I believe your keyless entry module is behind either the drivers or passenger kick panel, You need to match up the fcc number on the remotes to the module, if they do not match, they will not work.

To program:

1-Close all vehicle doors.

2-Insert the key into the ignition.

3-Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel-continue to hold down until instructed to release in step 9.

Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.

4-Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine).

5-Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

6-Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

7-Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

8-Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors automatically.

9-Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until the door locks and unlocks. This step may take up to 30 seconds.

Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing transmitters).

10-Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

For what it's worth, I work in a junk yard and I've got 4 key fobs for my 04 now, and I pulled them from various GM's; Caddillac, Buick, Chevy, etc. Not all 4 button remotes work, but there's more out there that will other than just ones from other Blazers. Some have a little picture of a trunk for the rear hatch release but I scrounged up some with the "REAR 2X" on them in good shape and just swapped the rubber button instert over. Fortunately for me, I have the luxury of trying out a bunch of difference ones lol.

I have a Chevrolet Blazer LT 2001 - European model - keyless remote control with part no GM/UTA 15732810. I have only one key to use and this remote control key is not trustworthy any longer.

Does anyone know about a used or a “new” remote control with the above part no. I would be very grateful to be informed.

Hopefully someone can help or respond to my inquiry.

Best regards
