Brake Bleeding.......no fluid coming out.
 

Hello, I have a 97 Blazer with rear drum brakes. I was a attempting a brake fluid flush this past weekend, using aMotive pressure pump. All is going well, I did the rear passenger first and then when I went to do the rear driver side, I opened the bleeder screw yet nothing came out. I made sure the pump was still under pressure no higher than 8psi. What gives? I even took out the screw completely. Could the line be clogged? How can I resolve this? Thanks

I'd try it with a human foot on the pedal first, applying more pressure.

If no joy, either erbuild or replace the brake cylinder. They're not expensive. Then bleed.

The benefit: brake fluid should be replaced every 2-4 years anyway, so you're due.

Another thing you could try is bleeding a front caliper to see if the fluid come out there. If that works, kick the brake pedal a couple of times, with the bleeder closed and try the other rear. It's possible that you have tripped the equalizer valve.

Good point. I still haven't sorted out the behavior of equalizer valves. But not getting fluid out of a brake caliper or cylinder is "Bad".

Hint: when you take apart the rear brake to replace the cylinder, do ONE side at a time. Then if you forget where the pieces go, you can pop the drum off the other side and you have a handy reference.
