Brake issue
I have a brake issue on my '99 Blazer with ABS, started after a major brake overhaul by a qualified? mechanic. Sometimes you can hear a slight sound (almoast a groaning) coming from the engine area, when you press on the brake pedal after hearing this sound, the sound rapidly intensifies and the pedal gets slightly spongy and "flutters" but the brakes do stop. It is very intermittent and seems to get better if you really jam the pedal hard a couple of times, you might drive around and use the breaks a few dozen times with no issue, then here it is again. This started after the service a couple of years ago, recently had major break service again and the issue continues, took it back to the mechanic who claims it is an ABS issue and that the ABS module replacement would run about $2,500. I find it too coincidental that it did not do so prior to the first service but did after being picked up. 121,00 miles on the Blazer which we bought used as a replacement for my favorite 95 S15 Jimmy that was t-boned and totaled by some nimrod a few years ago. I've always gotten great service from the several S vehicles I've bought new over the years, this is the first used one I've bought and I'm perplexed. My '88 2.6 with the original engine is now almost at 300k miles with no major issues (rebuilt injectors, fuel pump, water pump, etc.). Hope someone can help me figure this one out.

So no one has any thoughts or ideas on this one? I sure don't want to take to the dealer, this one gives great service but their prices are out of sight.

Sound like this:
Brakes - Low Speed (below 5 MPH) ABS Activation
Even if it doesn't, it won't hurt to test the WSS (wheel speed sensors) using the information in that link.
