brake pressure issues

1998 GMC Jimmy....Couple months back I blew the two steel braided lines that run between the MC and the ABS unit.... I parked the vehicle until I had time to deal with it.... most, if not all the fluid had dripped from the brake system....

Replaced the lines the other day, Filled the reservoir...but I cant get any fluid to pump through the system. as i pump the brakes, the fluid just sits in the reservoir... pedal goes all the way to the floor and returns.... can not get any brake pressure or any fluid to pump into the lines....

been looking around online, im a honda guy so im not overly familiar with these machines.... but it seems that they're a pain to bleed....do i need to bleed my abs with a scan tool? or remove and bench bleed my MC?

I would think that even with air in the system, I should still be able to advance fluid through the lines? maybe my MC is shot? Anybody have any insight to these brake systems that could lead me in the right direction? Thanks!

try bleeding it at the master by pumping it a bunch and holding the pedal then have someone crack the lines. that usually gets the air out of the system. another thing that may work is a vacuum bleeder, you can open one of the bleeders at a caliper and hook the vacuum bleeder up to it to try and pull some fluid through it

Fill the master and gravity bleed the calipers one at a time, DON'T pump the pedal. As abig84 mentioned, you might need to use a vacuum pump to get the flow started at each caliper. After all calipers run clear, (no bubbles) then bleed as follows: hold pressure on the pedal and open & close the bleeder, repeat at each caliper, (it will only take one, or two times at the most, at each caliper). If you can't get a firm pedal, you'll need to do the automated bleed, (scan tool). The automated bleed operates each solenoid and forces any air into the lines. It is the ONLY way to expel the air from the solenoids in the ABS unit. After the automated bleed completes, repeat the gravity bleed, and pressure bleed. Don't allow the master to run dry during any part of the bleed process, or you'll need to start at the beginning.
